The Marne and Rhine Canal passes directly through the business district of Saverne.  Our First officer is seen here as Lorraine pases through the lock in the village center.  There is ample time to explore this delightful of town 12,000 people.

The Rohan Castle is the former residence of the bishops of Strasbourg and was rebuilt by Cardinal de Rohan in 1779.  It now houses the city museum with a large archeological collection of Roman and Celtic artifacts, a hostel, a small arts ad crafts museum as well as a collection of ethnological art from the 20th century.
